Platedes

The documentary "Platedes" explores the history of an abandoned settlement, Platedes, in Ikaria. Through testimonies from residents of the village of Maratho, who are descendants of the former inhabitants of Platedes, the tragic story of the settlement's desertion during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic is revealed. The narration presents the image of a settlement since overtaken by nature. The abandonment of Platedes is not only about physical desertion but also the loss of an entire community and its traditions. The story of Platedes becomes an example of human resilience and enduring life, through family memories kept alive over the years.
