Seminar: Exploring Cinematography for Digital Arts – With Dr. Mark Bond

The Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival, in collaboration with the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA), hosts an intensive, six-day cinematography workshop with the distinguished British director Dr. Mark Bond, titled “Exploring Cinematography for Digital Arts.”

Goal and Content:

The seminar, taking place in Kalamata from November 20 to 24, is primarily aimed at 12 undergraduate and postgraduate students from ASFA, as well as anyone interested in delving into the practice and philosophy of the digital image.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Be Introduced to the Philosophy of Cinematography: Exploring tools, techniques, shots, and composition.
  • Apply a Conceptual Approach: Understand how an idea transforms into image and narrative. The "Storytelling" module will be conducted in collaboration with Becca Bond.
  • Design Lighting and Movement: Work with light (Lighting design), handheld camera work, and experiment with techniques that provoke the audience (Audience provocation).
  • Develop Their Own Projects: Throughout the seminar, students will develop and film their own short film ideas, receiving feedback and guidance from Mark Bond.

The seminar emphasizes practical application, experimental filming, and dialogue on how technology can subvert conventional narrative techniques to create digital art.
