An important event addressing cyberbullying will be held in Kalamata on Monday, December 2nd, 2024.
The documentary "Sticks & Stones - The Truth of Cyberbullying" by Giorgos Goris will be screened at 6:00 PM in the projection room of the Kalamata Labor Center as part of the Kalamata International Short Documentary Film Festival. The film explores the serious consequences of cyberbullying on teenagers, highlighting how social media affects their self-esteem and perception of reality. Through personal testimonies and interviews with experts, the documentary emphasizes the interconnectedness of the digital and real worlds and its impact on the psychology of young people. Furthermore, it examines the role of parents, educators, and guardians in understanding and addressing the phenomenon, while focusing on the lack of empathy and the overemphasis on image in social media as significant causes of cyberbullying. The film concludes with a call for a healthier online culture and the empowerment of young people to face the challenges of the digital world.
Immediately after the screening (6:30 PM), the director Giorgos Goris will answer questions from the audience.
At 6:40 PM, on the floor above the projection room (in another room of the Labor Center), a more extensive discussion on the topic of Cyberbullying will follow. The following will participate in the discussion:
