The 10th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival of the Peloponnese expands its educational programs under the direction of Dr. Iakovos Panagopoulos. In collaboration with the Ionian University, the festival offers students a variety of educational experiences, from storytelling workshops to seminars on the use of artificial intelligence in filmmaking.
The 10th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Iakovos Panagopoulos, Assistant Professor at the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the Ionian University, as the coordinator of the Student and Undergraduate Educational Program. The collaboration between the Peloponnese International Documentary Film Festival and the Ionian University is long-standing and was formally established with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation in 2020, involving the Department of Audiovisual Arts and the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpretation.
In recent years, Dr. Panagopoulos has organized significant educational activities for the festival, including the successful StoryLab workshop with Professor Erik Knudsen from the United Kingdom and the seminar Crafting True Narratives with Mark Bond & Rebecca Bond, also from the United Kingdom. The StoryLab workshop was held for two consecutive years and became a pivotal point in the education of young creators, highlighting the concepts of narrative art in cinema.
He is also responsible for the student team that evaluates films and awards a special quality award that has been established for the past three years.
Finally, starting this year, a new collaboration with Professor Ioannis Deligiannis (Analog and Digital Technologies of Interactive Multimedia) is being launched, who coordinates and edits the seminar: "Creating Short Films Using Artificial Intelligence"
Substantial cooperation with the Ionian University also exists with the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpretation, particularly regarding the "Documentaries for All" program. Within the framework of this program, the technical processing of audio descriptions for documentaries (for people with visual impairments) is implemented under the supervision of the president, Maria Tsigkou, the lecturer Ismini Karatzi, and Stavros Kozobolis.
