The 10th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival fosters international film collaboration, promoting Greek films at European festivals and creating new opportunities for Greek filmmakers.
The 10th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival has adopted a program of international collaborations with European festivals whose intention and goal is to promote national cinema with documentary screenings at both collaborating Festivals as well as to provide incentives for co-productions between directors of each two countries. In 2021 the program started with a very succesfull collaboration with the Zinebi International Festival of Bilbao, where a 90-minute modular documentary was created by 3 Greek and 3 Basque directors on the theme of "Claiming Freedom" in co-production with ERT. For 2023-2024 we have reached an agreement with the Faito doc Festival in Naples, Italy, while for the next year we are looking forward to collaboration with Malta.
The two festivals (Faito and Peloponnese) agreed, apart from the screenings of selected Italian and Greek documentaries, to invite Greek and Italian filmmakers to submit the idea of a short 5' documentary on the theme of "portrait of a city" which is also the main tribute of the 10th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival.
From the proposals, the 4 best were selected with the aim of creating a modular feature length documentary.
The films selected are:
- "Terre distante" by David Muñoz Álvarez - 5' (Bel)
- "Walk this Way" by Alexandra Vanousi - 5' (Ger)
- "The city of faces" by Christos Angelidis, Stavroula Samaras, Avra Stavroula Sotiropoulou - 5' (Gre)
- "Omonoiares" by Stathis Galazoula 5' (Gre)
The two festivals agreed that the creators would get to know each other and develop their cooperation prospects, being hosted by each city respectively. (Naples-Kalamata). Already the modular documentary entitled "Poli-Rises" was screened on July 16, 2024 at the Faito doc festival, while in Greece it will be screened as part of the Peloponnese International Documentary Festival and Kalamata short docs on Monday, December 2.
This action paves the way for further collaborations to promote Greek directors, giving opportunities to participate in international co-productions.
