On Sunday, February 7 at 6 p.m. a round table discussion wil be held on "Claiming Freedom and War Correspondents" with the presence of Greek and foreign directors and journalists / war correspondents, and in particular the director of the documentary “Photographer of war” Boris Benjamin Bertram and the Director of Photography Henrik Bohn Ipsen from Denmark, Nitza Kakoseos Dominguez  Swedish director / journalist and war correspondent in Nicaragua and Nikolas Vafiadis journalist / war correspondent. The discussion will be coordinated by the director of the documentary "Shooting vd shooting" Nikos Megrelis in asociation with Lina Giannopoulou, collaborator and member of the organizing committee of the festival. A committee of students of the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Peloponnese will also be participating in the discussion. The discussion will be broadcasted live with the aim of interacting with the viewers. There wil also be a simultaneous translation in sign language.

Nikolas Vafiadis

Nikolas Vafiadis has  worked  for many influential  Greek newspapers (including Eleftherotypia, Kathimerini and Kerdos), the Financial Times, radio stations (including BBC World Service, ANT-1 Radio), magazines (including Georama) and TV stations. His reports have been broadcast by many international media (including CNN, Sky News, CBS News, Al Jazeera, RAI, etc.). He has been working for the ANTENNA Group for the last 32 years. He teaches "Mass Media and Social Media in Disasters and Crises” in the postgraduate program   "Environmental, Disaster and Crisis Management Strategies " of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and he is also the Head of the Foreign News Department of ANT-1 TV. He has covered a dozen wars from the front lines and has interviewed many world leaders (including Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbatsev, George Bush, Yasser Arafat, Tassos Papadopoulos, Jesse Jackson, Hamid Karzai, Jimmy Carter, Tomislav Nikolic, Turgut Ozal, John Major, George W. Bush, Alexander Kwasniewski, Ion Iliescu, Sali Berisha, Kiro Gligorov, Slobodan Milosevic,and others).

His distinctions include awards for his subjective coverage of the wars in the Gulf, in Nagorno Karabakh, in Kosovo in Former Yugoslavia, in Iraq, in Lebanon and other hot spots of the planet.In 2016, he received the European Amerigo Media Award in Florence for his overall contribution to the Media.

 

 

Boris Benjamin Bertram

Boris Benjamin Bertram is a Danish award-winning filmmaker, teacher, keynote speaker, producer and partner in Good Company Pictures. Educated at the National Film School of Denmark as a documentary director in 2005. He is the creator of award-winning, international documentaries, sold to more than 30 countries and selected for international film festivals like Hot Docs, Camden, CPH:DOX and The International Film Festival Rotterdam. Boris Bertram has worked closely with Lars Von Trier and Jorgen Leth on the documentaries The Five Obstructions and The Erotic Man.Ηe has directed ‘The Human Shelter’ (Copenhagen Architecture festival) and ‘Photographer of War’, one of the most watched documentary in Danish cinemas (nominated for Danish Academy Awards, Nordic Panorama).As a director he has a global outlook and a keen interest on international politics, conflict resolutions, humanitarianism and art.

 Boris Bertram was supported by The Danish Arts Council in 2011 and 2015, and received an official invitation to become a member of The European Film Academy in February 2020.

 

Henrik Bohn Ipsen

Cinematographer. Born 1961. Has worked on a large number of notable documentary films since the mid-eighties. In 2015, Bohn Ipsen received the annual Danish Roos Award, which recognises an outstanding achievement in Danish documentary film.

NitzaKakoseos Dominguez

NitzaKakoseos Dominguez is an award winning documentary film maker whose personal and narrative style has met with acclaim at international film festivals and television market places. She is born and raced in Sweden of Greek parents. With a background in journalism and having worked as a war correspondent in Central America in the 1980s, NitzaKakoseos is highly experienced in Latin American affairs. Her major award winning documentaries have been filmed in countries like El Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile and Cuba. She has experiences as a jury member at film festivals mostly in Latin America and she  gives classes in ethics in documentary film making. Work shops  on these themes have been set in Nicaragua, Cuba and Sweden. Her films have been  broadly screened at television stations such as; SVT, YLE, NRK, DR, VPRO, ARTE, ERT, ABC, DSR. a.oNitzaKakoseos resides in Stockholm, Sweden. She is the founder and president of Electra Media.

 

Nikos Megrelis

Nikos Megrelis is a renowned Greek journalist with a long career in Greek television as editor, political and diplomatic analyst but also the main news presenter on two of the biggest national networks, the Mega Channel and the Antenna.He has interviewed personalities from the international political scene who have left their mark on history, (Arafat, Zifkov, Demirel, Desten, Gul, Napolitano, Holbrooke, Isabel Allende, and others.) while he has alsogiven interviews to CNN, CNN TURK ,RAI and in other international news networks.He has also produced many documentaries such as those about Chile, Cuba, the death of the Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Palme and the phenomenon of neo-Nazism in Greece and Europe. He has directed the award-winning documentary "Dying for the Truth" which presents shocking stories from the Iraq war and the past few years he has been following and documenting the work of the organization "Doctors of the World".

In 2002 he was honored with the prestigious Greek award of the Botsis Foundation "for the quality of his television programs". He has also been honored with the 2003 European Comenius Award for his television documentary about the wreck of the oil tanker "Prestige" off  the Spanish coast and the large environmental disaster it caused . In 2007 he was awarded the K. KALLIGAS Prize of the European Journalists' Association "for his professional ethics and the European orientation in journalism". 

In 2004 he was elected member of the executive committee of the International Federation of Journalists (www.ifj.org) to be re-elected in 2007 at the Moscow Congress.
