Ούλι Μπεζ

Feminist and activist Uli Bez is a filmmaker living in Munich. Born in 1957 in a small village, she was already fascinated as a child by the oral stories of the village elders. In 1977-80 she studied theater, literature and art history at the University of Munich, and developed a passion for the epic theater after Brecht. In 1980 she left the university to train as a media designer at Bavaria Atelier Studios, then as an editor and assistant director in documentary filmmaking. For thirteen years she was a freelance editor and assistant director for Bavarian Television, BBC and ZDF. Since 2007 she has been working as a freelance filmmaker. Her best-known works are " Daughters of the Dawn " on female immigrants and " Who dares begins " on cooperative building and communal living. Her first film, " There´s a Whisper Spreading round the world," on the Bavarian Revolution and Soviet Republic of 1918/19, was released in 1989 and re-released in 2018 to mark the centenary of the end of the monarchy. The English-language version premiered online in New York on 2/21.
